We can never do too much when it comes to encouraging our kids to read. From the time, she first came home from the hospital; I started  reading to Day. Talking with my wife, I found out that she made the same choice and read to the boys from the time they were babies. I'm sure that all parents feel that reading is crucial for their children. Lately, the explosion of tablets and E-Readers parents have another decision to make, ebooks vs books. What's best for our kids? Should I buy ebooks or books printed on paper? You can find parents on both sides of the aisle when you ask them this question. Some like ebooks while others prefer to avoid using them. One thing that is sure, reading an e-book is not the same as reading a book.  I've always thought; there is no one best answer. Like many things in life, the best choice often depends on the circumstances. For example, it's  great to have a physical book when reading to toddlers. You can connect with your children as you point to pictures and tell them the names of things. You can emphasize sounds and letters, as they start to learn how to read. With physical books, you also have the option of going to the library and having a huge selection that is totally free. Digital books have several things going for them also. They also can teach kids the sounds of letters In fact, digital books can even sound out the words for you. Personally, I think that you should make sure to include some actual books while reading, as well as digital books and e-readers. The situation is similar to what if you typed everything, but didn't know how to write. You could do this for a while but sooner or later, there will come a time when you'll have to write the words instead of type them. There are several sources for free ebooks. My wife just made a real point. She just said some people may have a hard time paying for an e-reader such as a Kindle or even a computer to download books. That is true but in this day and age; it's important that our kids also have this option. I see a lot of kids with smartphones if you have a smartphone there are several free apps for downloading and reading books. My personal favorite for my Android phone is Google Play Books. I also like Lifehacker's choice for the five best e-book stores. When it come to e-book readers I like the following; selling for $59.00 the Kindle, 6" Glare-Free Touchscreen Display, Wi-Fi - Includes Special Offers is a good choice. The Kindle Fire HD 6, 6" HD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB - Includes Special Offers, Black for $99.00 is not a bad deal either. My father bought the Fire HD for my daughter last year, and she uses it often. It also has come in handy when she was assigned to read a book for school. Sometimes downloading it is a lot easier than going to the store and purchasing it. Whatever you decide, I hope that you found some information that you can use in this article. Merry Christmas, God be with you until we meet again.
