Recently, several safety experts and this blog warned families about the dangers of hoverboard fires.
Hoverboards are the hot, new toy all the kids and quite a few adults want to own. They are a little too hot as it turns out. There have been several Hoverboard fires since this recently developed toy came out. As I mentioned in an earlier post, a hoverboard given as a Christmas gift almost destroyed a family’s home in Australia a few weeks ago.
I recently heard some good news about these expensive, popular toys.
“UL, the respected testing firm that electronics manufacturers often use to certify the safety of their products, established a hoverboard testing program this week that will serve as one of the nation’s first safety standards covering the whole device.”
UL is approved to perform safety testing by the US federal agency Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
You can read the entire story here Underwriters Labs to test hoverboards, set safety standards. Underwriters Labs testing of these fun toys, should lead to safer hoverboards. Hopefully, they will be less prone to exploding and burning down your house. Be careful out there. God be with you until we meet again.
