Although these organizations these are usually reliable sources of information; I alway keep it in mind that doctors and scientific organizations sometimes have ties to the pharmaceutical companies. Some doctors get kickbacks for prescribing certain drugs. If there are no sick people, they don’t have customers for their drugs. It’s the omega-3 fatty acids in fish that provide most of the health benefits that come from eating fish. Fish especially rich in the beneficial oils known as omega-3 fatty acids include mackerel, tuna, salmon, sturgeon, mullet, bluefish, anchovy, sardines, herring, trout, and menhaden. Wow! I always told my wife that in spite of the smell, sardines are good for you. They provide about 1 gram of omega-3 fatty acids in about 3.5 ounces of fish.
Wouldn’t you want to know if your doctor was a paid spokesman for a drug company? Or held personal beliefs incompatible with the treatment you want?
