Why Foods High in Antioxidants are good for you

Eating antioxidant-rich superfoods gives you a big head start on staying healthy. We should eat an assortment of fruits and vegetables daily. Our creator filled the earth with plenty of healthy foods for us to eat, and experts now say our bodies do best with a plant based diet. God color coded our foods and we should eat many colors and shapes of fruits and vegetables every day. Different colors have different benefits. Ideally, we should eat something from every color under the rainbow every day. This isn’t always possible, but If you’re only eating beige colored food, your body will soon let you know. Some symptoms of a bad diet are

  • Being Overweight
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Heart Disease
  • Type 2-diabetes
  • Some Cancers
  • Depression
  • Low Energy

Colorful Antioxidants

If you can’t include something from every color group, every day; try putting some superfoods into your diet to help make up for some of the shortfalls. This weekend I’m going to key in on antioxidants. Antioxidants are chemicals that interact with and neutralize free radicals, thus preventing them from causing damage. Antioxidants are also known as “free radical scavengers.”

Some powerful antioxidants that your body needs to get from food include beta-carotene, vitamin c, and vitamin e. You’ll find them in colorful fruits and vegetables especially those with purple, blue, red, orange, and yellow hues. Do your mind and body a favor read more about antioxidants and cancer prevention here
