"If you refuse the advice of an elder, you will walk until sunset," Kenya

Here's another qoute for you that could have been written this morning,

"times are bad; children no longer obey their parents."

Does it remind you of anything? Cicero said it in 43 BCE. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Considering what he said, it came to me that there's is a sequence to life. There's an order. I've always put my elders are at the top of the chain of command. Wisdom normally comes with age. Although there are exceptions to the rule, most people don't get to be 50, 60 years old and older by being stupid.

Living longer has given them the advantage of doing more, seeing more, and experiencing a lot more.

The best advice comes from elders who realize,

Proverbs9:10

"Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom"

Youth can take advantage of the wealth of knowledge that the elders have.

"Been there, done that"

translates into being able to lead a person who hasn't been there to the shortcut. They'll show you that you need a jeep to make it down that muddy road. They'll keep you from getting stuck. How about showing you how to get there on the highway instead of taking the streets. If you listen to them, you'll get there much faster, and you'll get there safely.

Youth has a choice to make. Let's pray they make the right one.

And for the times that they make wrong choices, the elders will always be there for them.

Be careful out there.
